Fresh Asparagus

My grandmother taught me a way to keep asparagus fresh and tasty in the fridge. It works! Basically, you treat the asparagus like flowers: cut the ends off (just a little), place in a container of water, and then create a sort of greenhouse by covering the top with plastic wrap or a plastic bag and secure with a rubberband. Pop this in the fridge. Try to change the water every day until you use up the stalks.

That's the way the produce dept. does at my supermarket! Except for the little grenhouse that is. The water for the stems is a must though! Hi, Mary Kat!

This works really well for cilantro, too!

Your grandma should write a book about helpful tips. She did teach me how to make an omlette. Thanks Anita!

That's what we do with cilantro too, and a few other herbs. It keeps them fresh for a couple weeks.
