Milk Mania!
Misty Brook Farm sells milk in half-gallon glass jars. They require a depost the first time, then customers just return their old jars when they come for fresh milk. It seems like it will be easy to skim the cream from these jars. After our farm tour and all of all farm-store purchases, it seemed fitting to have lunch at the Crystal Spring Dairy Bar, where two people can have drinks and lunch for less than $10, easy.

As a girl living across the road from a dairy, my family had fresh milk daily. One of my brothers or I would take a clean gallon jar each morning to collect milk from the farmer. It was refrigerated right away, but sometimes we drank some warm milk before it was refrigerated. The butterfat would float to the top and could be skimmed off or stirred/shaken back into the milk before you poured it.
We also skimmed it off to make butter. We used a daisy churn, but you could also shake it until the fat separated out from the liquid.
I am still a regular milk drinker, bit miss the rich taste of fresh milk.
